5.0 out of 5 stars A Home Phone That I Actually Wanted!, May 16, 2011

This review is from: Panasonic KX-TG7643M dect 6.0 Link-to-Cell Bluetooth Cordless Phone with 3-Handsets (Office Product)
In today's world, the home phone has become increasing unnecessary. I had to get a home phone to aide for the security system, so when I researched some cordless phones, I came across this Panasonic device. I don't care much for a home phone as I have lived without one for several years, but this allows a home phone back in my life.

Link-to-cell is incredible. This feature allows me to answer and make calls using my cell phone. I don't have to search around the house for the cell...just keep it in the same place. Pairing was extremely simple, but you will need to read the instructions to navigate the hidden settings menu and whatnot(this is just a one time thing). I literally walked in the house and it paired automatically in about 30 seconds. The memory holds 3034 contacts. Is that too much? Maybe..but during setup, I just let my phone (Droid Incredible) bluetooth all my 400 contacts over...Again, real simple.

Already lost power-
Phone works great... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Talk about a gatet that makes life easier! Fantastic, June 11, 2011

This review is from: Panasonic KX-TG7643M dect 6.0 Link-to-Cell Bluetooth Cordless Phone with 3-Handsets (Office Product)
I had no idea this Cell to Cordless Bluetooth feature existed and it is one of the single best technology investments I have made in a very long time.

I have a personal cell phone, a work cell phone (Blackberry), and a home phone land line, and for years have had to either carry my cell phones around the house with me or go running over to where ever they are charging at the moment when a call comes in.

Well no more. The Panasonic KX-TG7643M came to my attention while looking around for a Father's Day gift. It is a Speaker Phone, Answering Machine, has Battery Back-Up, and I got the Base Unit and 3 handset option, and the keypad in the base unit.

First the star feature, Bluetooth link to my cell phone. Out of the box the manual is a little daunting and obviously Panasonic knew this and had a quick start on the inside cover for very basic operation but including cell phone pairing and a cheat sheet in addition to the full manual for more commonly used... 3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but there are some shortcomings, July 20, 2011
By
All the reviews are pretty much dead on. They mostly focus on the positives of the phone. Other reviewers have said basicly how I feel. It is a pretty good phone, but I wish it could be made better by improvements in the shortcomings listed below.
I will give my thoughts more on what I feel are some shortcomings.

1. The phone feels cheap, compared to older phones I have had in the past including AT&T and VTECH and others. For me, not the most comfortable to hold.

2. Handset volume is definitely lower compared to older phones I have had in past.

3. The display name of handset is limited in character length and so are names in address book.

4. Software driven menu is not the easiest to navigate. You might need the manual handy to figure things out. Not the most intuitive design.

5. Volume control is hard to adjust during call. You have to take phone away from ear to adjust. It would have been nice to have volume... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars OtterBox Defender Series Case for iPad -- Ultimate Protection, in Style, August 4, 2010

This review is from: OtterBox Defender Series for Original iPad (Black) (Personal Computers)
After my wife bought me an iPad and I cradled its sleek aluminum and glass body in my hands, I knew that finding a protective case for it was of paramount importance. But rather than jumping into the arduous task of researching the dizzying array of available iPad cases, I already had an idea where to look: OtterBox. My wife and I have both protected our iPhone 3GS's in the company's iPhone Defender cases for over a year and have been very happy with the results. Even after numerous accidental drops, our Defender-clad iPhones look like new underneath their "armor".

And fortunately, a quick check of the OtterBox web site revealed that the company did, in fact, offer a Defender series case for the iPad. Nearly ninety bucks and just over a week later, I am happy to report that OtterBox's Defender case for iPad is everything I had hoped it would be. At $89.95, this case is certainly one of the more expensive iPad case options available, but in my opinion, it is well worth the... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Rock solid protection, but with annoying downside., August 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: OtterBox Defender Series for Original iPad (Black) (Personal Computers)
Let me start by saying that this is really a quality product. It feels very solid and ipad feels very secure in it. The fit is also excellent and the screen protector it comes with is good value. It feels like I have a one of those rugged laptops that you can abuse. I took it camping and felt at ease that no harm would come to my ipad. I also felt like that I didn't need to baby my ipad.

Now the problem with this is that this protection will make the ipad feel bulky and a little heavy espically if you are using it as ebook reader. One must keep this in mind. It's all about balancing protection and comfort. This case is definitely more towards the protection end.

The downside of this case is that the snap-off access for optional iPad dock doesn't come with a opening and closing flap for just the port itself.

Everytime one has to charge the ipad, the cover needs to be removed by sliding it out. This becomes annoying after awhile. This leaves an... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome case, worth every penny, July 14, 2010
I have been waiting for this case to come out and finally it arrived. It was easy to assemble, fits the ipad like a glove, and looks great. I love the stand built into the snap off cover, great angle for watching movies or surfing the internet. I no longer have to worry when my 3 year old wants to watch a movie or play a game, my ipad is PROTECTED!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A whole lot of polishing make it an efficient, worhtwhile upgrade, June 16, 2010
By
This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 - 3PC/1User (Disc Version) (DVD-ROM)
I've had an opportunity to use Office 2010 Beta edition for a couple of months now and now that I see the full, final, edition I can say that this is a very worthwhile upgrade. First things first, I am not a techie. I am someone who uses Word, Excel and PowerPoint on a very regular basis, who really liked some of the changes in Office 2007 but who thought some things needed tweaking, so when given the opportunity for the beta edition I jumped on it and have not been disappointed. Office 2010 is to Office 2007 what Windows 7 was to Vista; that is, there are not many breakthrough, drastically different features, but a whole lot of polishing and cleanup to make it easier and more efficient. Overall, the program seems to run faster, incorporates many of the most commonly used options and makes them more accessible (eliminating many dialog boxes and tabs) and allows for more customization.

At first glance it looks very much like its predecessor, the ribbon is back and it is now... Read more

This is a worthwhile upgrade for me. I debated whether to do it or not and what version to get. I finally decided on the Home and Student version. I was pleased to see the price actually drop upon shipping. For me the main deal was OneNote 2010 which allows me to print directly into OneNote. In December I bought a new laptop and it has Win7 Pro 64bit. I was very disappointed to find that OneNote 2007 did not include a driver to print directly into it. While MS did provide a work around this much better.

One word of caution when you are installing. My MS Office install is a bit of a collection. I'm using stand alone versions of Outlook and Publisher (both 2007) and Access (2003). I had decided to leave these as is. Upon installing 2010 I was presented with two buttons: "Upgrade" and "Customize". I picked curtain 1 (upgrade). My bad! The install then proceeded to remove Outlook, Publisher and Access. Since the program I was installing did not include these products I think... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Probably Not Worth the Upgrade!, August 25, 2010
This review is from: Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 - 3PC/1User (Disc Version) (DVD-ROM)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
In my title, I noted that it is "probably" not worth the upgrade. The probably depends upon what you are upgrading from. If you are using Office 2007, stick with 2007. This has a slightly longer load time and not much in the way of usable new features. If you are upgrading from an even earlier version of Office, then this is probably the way to go.

The good: The ribbon bar. I like it and it is still there, with a couple of minor improvements such as adding a file option and incorporating your most commonly used actions into one place (kind of like Office 2003 did). The look is slightly updated to be more in line with Windows 7. There are some nice video editing features for PowerPoint that you may find useful. Also, the true claim to fame of this program is that it nearly catches up to Google Docs with online options. Finally, this is a three computer license, which is nice since so many people buy one and put it on all the computers in the house anyway... Read more
